Putting Children First
A Warm Welcome
We are delighted to welcome you to the Tuckswood Academy and Nursery website.
We are very proud of all our children. Our children are open, tolerant and caring of one another, they are individuals and respect differences. They are creative in their approach to education and we seek to encourage and develop this as they move with us through the school. Academic performance is important but equally at Tuckswood we encourage the development of the well rounded child who knows how to make healthy life choices, knows how to learn, explores relationships, enjoys physical, artistic and musical pursuits and knows how to stay safe.
The staff work extremely hard to provide a rich, exciting and varied curriculum and our children respond enthusiastically to all the opportunities offered to them! We know how important a broad curriculum is to our children and we take all of our children on a trip every half term and our children have the opportunity to go on a 3 day residential in year 6. We are also really proud of our enrichment classes because we teach the children skills they need to know which are not part of the curriculum.
At the core of our curriculum you will find a love of reading, writing and mathematics. We believe that English is the key to lifelong learning and our aim is to send every one of our children to High School with a high standard of English skills and a love of reading and books. Throughout the teaching of mathematics we aim for the children to be fluent and to obtain the skills needed to reason mathematically.
We are also extremely lucky to have an excellent governing body who work very hard to support and develop the school. We are very much a part of the local community and work hard to develop good links with our parents, the community and the high schools. Our newly established PTA are fantastic and provide an excellent range of competitions for children and parents and the community throughout the year.
Children never come alone and we welcome you as a parent/carer. We hope that you too will become part of this learning community. We offer an open door policy so if you have any unanswered questions, please do not hesitate to come and visit us.
Our staff and children thoroughly enjoy their time here and we hope that you will enjoy our website – hopefully it will give you a flavour of what happens at Tuckswood. If you would like to see more, please contact the school to arrange a visit.
I feel privileged to lead such an exciting and vibrant school full of lovely children who want to work hard.
