Mathematics

At Tuckswood we recognise the importance of mathematics in daily life and seek to continue leading children through the journey to mathematical literacy. We seek to teach the children an ambitious mathematics curriculum which prepares them for future employment.

The national curriculum for mathematics aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • Become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, including the varied and regular practice of increasingly complex problems over time.

  • Reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, understanding relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language.

  • Can solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of problems with increasing sophistication, including breaking down problems into a series of simpler steps and persevering in seeking solutions.

The EYFS sets out the foundations for mathematics in our school, the children will have a daily maths input and are then encouraged to move their learning on through a mathematically rich environment. Adults will guide children through this by modelling mathematical vocabulary and providing them with appropriate resources within continuous provision.

At Tuckswood we have created a  number of videos aimed at families and children to help them with maths.

Please use them to cover any areas of maths that you find difficult.
